If you think that wine can either be one of the most boring subjects in the world - or one of the most interesting, you should take a look at the Good Wine Guide, where you'll soon find a wine school, an encyclopedia, a wine atlas, links to hundreds of producers and merchants, advice on bargains and what's tasting good, competitions, interviews, news, views and a whole lot more.

Of course, on the other hand, if you think it's rather bad form to be irreverent about regional appellations like Bordeaux and the Napa Valley, or to question Robert Parker's judgement, then you might be far better off pulling the cork on an over-rated, overpriced bottle of red, and settling down to crochet a pink woollen cosy to keep it warm.
